Overview
The ҕl (ҕl) offers English for Academic Purposes 1 (EAP 1) and English for Academic Purposes 2 (EAP 2). Both programmes are designed for international students to meet the English language requirements needed for their next level of study in New Zealand.
EAP 1 and EAP 2 are delivered by our preferred on-campus English language provider, .
Start Dates: 24 February; 9 June; 13 October
Duration: 12 weeks
Hours: 20 hours per week + 5 hours per week of optional independent learning
Location: On campus or online (for overseas students)
What you will study: Reading; writing for exams and essays; understanding lectures; presentation skills
Entry requirements: IELTS 5.0 (or equivalent). The EAP 1 level assessment can be taken overseas before arriving in New Zealand
Fees: NZ$5,184 (indicative) plus additional costs such as enrolment, materials, and exams
Outcomes: By completing the EAP 1 programme, you will meet the English Language requirements of ҕl's international undergraduate pathway programmes.

What you will study: Academic reading and writing skills; vocabulary; and skills for understanding lectures, giving presentations, and participating in academic discussions
Entry requirements: IELTS 5.5 or 6.0 (depending on your planned university study following the completion of EAP2)
Fees: NZ$6,080 (indicative) plus additional costs such as enrolment, materials, and exams
Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the EAP2 programme you will meet ҕl’s minimum English language requirements and – depending on your GPA – will be able to apply to selected bachelor's degrees, postgraduate degrees, master's degrees, or doctoral degrees at ҕl.
Please note that some of our degrees require a higher achievement standard of IELTS than others. Please check the requirements of your intended degree before you begin your EAP 2 programme.
