Te Whare Wānanga o Waitaha | ҕl (ҕl) proudly played a key role in the 2024 WORD Christchurch’s ‘Inspiring Minds: Secondary Schools Day,’ an event that underscores ҕl's longstanding commitment to fostering creativity and innovation. As a principal partner of WORD Christchurch, ҕl’s support for the festival builds on a rich history of collaboration that stretches back to the festival’s inception 26 years ago.
The school’s day, hosted on ҕl’s Ilam campus, was officially opened by Executive Dean of Arts, Professor Kevin Watson, who emphasised the University’s dedication to nurturing fresh ideas and innovative thinking.
The festival featured authors, poets, and writers who engaged with secondary school students through vibrant discussions and interactive sessions. Among the guests was Thomas Udall, the United States Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa. Ambassador Udall was invited by WORD Christchurch to introduce American author and 2024 participant Sasha LaPointe.
